Kitty's Good News

( Kitty Roedel, a member of our Progressive Miami resistance group, has been putting together a monthly list of "good news", the positive things we need to keep in mind, as we continue to fight #45 and his cronies. Here is the news from the last month.
1. Early this morning, thanks to 48 hard-working Democratic Senators and three sensible Republican Senators, the Republican effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act failed by a vote of 49-51.
2. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled unanimously to uphold the injunction blocking the Muslim ban.
3. 45 reversed his pledge to deport Dreamers (for now).
4. Eighteen states have filed suit against Betsy DeVos over her delay of regulations to provide new protections for federal student loan borrowers who are defrauded by for-profit colleges
5. Hawaii is the first state to join Paris Climate Accord. Miami Dade Commission voted to support the Accord.
7. Federal appeals court struck down EPA’s suspension of Obama’s emission standards.
8. For the first time, wind and solar accounted for 10% of US electricity generation.
9. Senate passes a bipartisan bill to add sanctions to Russia and to prevent 45 from removing sanctions.
10. Representative Quigley introduces the "Covfefe Act" requiring all presidential social media posts (FB, Twitter) to be preserved, expanding the Presidential Records Act.
11. Dept of Justice’s top corporate ethics officer resigns, says it’s impossible to work under this administration.
12. The head of the Boy Scouts condemns #45 acting like a drunk evil stepfather when he spoke to 40,000 scouts at their annual gathering in West Virginia. Let's hope he doesn't speak in front of Girl Scouts as well.
13. White house spokesperson Sean Spicer quits. A new white house communications is appointed ("The Mooch") and is quickly condemned for trash talk.
14. Fox News host Neil Cavuto tells 45 that fake news is not his problem, that 45 himself is the problem.
15. NBA champs Golden State Warriors unanimously declined 45's invitation to visit the the White House.
16. Special Counsel Robert Mueller has not yet been fired by #45. He continues his investigation of 45 for obstruction of justice, abuse of power, and ties to Russia.
17. Commission on Civil Rights has approved an investigation of civil rights enforcement in 45’s administration.
18. The military just announced that it will not implement #45's new transgender policy.
19. After ten years of trying, Rep. Barbara Lee finally got the Republican led Appropriations Committee to back her amendment to repeal the Authorization for Use of Military Force, which, if signed into law, would require Congress to debate and approve each new military action.
