Hangin’ With The Hoodoos

Two hours northeast of Zion we entered Bryce Canyon National Park. As I am a member of the Old Guys Club, We get in these places for free and camp for half price.

Francesca and I grabbed a campsite then began heading up the walkway that leads to the edge of the famous canyon. Neither of us had ever been there so we were excited. We promised each other to only look at the ground until we reached the rim. Then, we’d stop, close our eyes, count to three, and take it all in together.

At “three” we opened our eyes and saw this:

Bryce is so amazing. A fantastic candy land of eroded orange rock. Bizarre formations abound. They call this orange spires “hoodoos” and the canyon contains thousands of them. We opted for a three-mile hike to the bottom and back. Here are a few of the things we saw.

PS: If you click on the images they can get big (if your pc is willing).
